Once finished, the printer driver will be installed and ready to use immediately. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The following is required for proper operation:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Internet access.<\/li>\n<li>Sufficient user account permissions to install USB devices and allow automatic driver downloads through Windows Update.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>USB Connection: Manual Installation (Optional)<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Make sure the printer is <strong>not <\/strong>yet connected via USB, and turn the printer off.<\/li>\n<li>Download the latest version of the printer driver: <a href=\"https:\/\/downloads.rebo.nl\/drivers\/SMS-R1-Printer-Drivers.zip\">download<\/a><br \/>\nOr download the latest Microsoft-signed version of the printer driver (WHQL\/HLK): <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/downloads.rebo.nl\/drivers\/SMS-R1-Printer-Drivers-WHQL.zip\">download<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>In Windows Explorer, extract the .ZIP file.<\/li>\n<li>In Windows Explorer, browse to the extracted folder and run <strong>Setup.exe<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Follow the installation wizard and select the desired language and <strong>unit of measurement<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select the Recommended for USB installation option and then click <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Wait 30 seconds after the installation has completed.<\/li>\n<li>Turn on the printer and connect the <strong>USB cable<\/strong> to the computer.<\/li>\n<li>The printer will now be installed automatically. Once the installation is complete, the printer driver will be installed and ready to use immediately.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>Network Connection: Manual Installation.<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Make sure the printer is powered <strong>on<\/strong> and the <strong>network cable<\/strong> is connected.<\/li>\n<li>View the printer&#8217;s <strong>IP address<\/strong> as follows: on the touchscreen, <strong>press and hold the SMS-R1 logo at the bottom center of the screen for 3 seconds<\/strong> to display the printer&#8217;s IP address and, if desired, configure the network settings.<\/li>\n<li>Download the latest version of the printer driver: <a href=\"https:\/\/downloads.rebo.nl\/drivers\/SMS-R1-Printer-Drivers.zip\">download<\/a><br \/>\nOr download the latest Microsoft-signed version of the printer driver (WHQL\/HLK): <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/downloads.rebo.nl\/drivers\/SMS-R1-Printer-Drivers-WHQL.zip\">download<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>In Windows Explorer, extract the .ZIP file.<\/li>\n<li>In Windows Explorer, browse to the extracted folder and run <strong>Setup.exe<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Follow the installation wizard and select the desired language and <strong>unit of measurement<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select the <strong>Recommended for LAN configuration<\/strong> option and then click <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The default printer name is<strong> SMS &#8211; R1<\/strong>. You can change the name now if desired. <\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Add Port \/ Search<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Allow<\/strong> in the Windows Security (firewall) pop-up.<\/li>\n<li>Click the detected network printer, or manually enter the printer&#8217;s IP address in the field at the bottom.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Add<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Close<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The printer driver is now installed and ready to use.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>Network Connection: Share Printer via Active Directory.<\/h4>\n<p>Additional information for system administrators:<\/p>\n<p>The printer communicates with only one computer or server at a time while processing a print job. Once the print job has been completed, the printer port becomes available again for other connections. <\/p>\n<p>Communication with the printer takes place over port <strong>9100<\/strong> (print jobs) and port <strong>9101<\/strong> (supply information).<\/p>\n<p>Install the printer on a Windows Server with the Print Server role enabled to create a shared print queue for the printer.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Share<\/strong> the printer in <strong>Active Directory<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Disable<\/strong> the <strong>Render print jobs on client computers<\/strong> (Client-Side Rendering) option.<\/li>\n<li>Install this shared printer queue on the end users&#8217; computers.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>Printer Driver Update: Automatic.<\/h4>\n<p>When we upload a new version of the printer driver to the Windows Update Catalog through Microsoft&#8217;s WHQL\/HLK program, your printer driver will automatically be updated at a later time.<\/p>\n<p>Because registering and completing the Microsoft WHQL\/HLK certification tests is a time-consuming process, we only do this periodically.<\/p>\n<p>If you would like to install the latest version of the printer driver sooner, follow the instructions below to update the printer driver manually.<\/p>\n<h4>Printer Driver Update: Manual.<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Download the latest version of the printer driver: <a href=\"https:\/\/downloads.rebo.nl\/drivers\/SMS-R1-Printer-Drivers.zip\">download<\/a><br \/>\nOr download the latest Microsoft-signed version of the printer driver (WHQL\/HLK): <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/downloads.rebo.nl\/drivers\/SMS-R1-Printer-Drivers-WHQL.zip\">download<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>In Windows Explorer, extract the .ZIP file.<\/li>\n<li>In Windows Explorer, browse to the extracted folder and run <strong>Setup.exe<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Follow the installation wizard and select the desired language and <strong>unit of measurement<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select the <strong>Update Driver<\/strong> (keep current printer port and settings) option and then click <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Wait 30 seconds for the installation to complete.<\/li>\n<li>The printer driver has now been updated. In most cases, restarting the computer is not necessary.<\/li>\n<li>Optional step for Windows Server administrators: This is only required after upgrading the printer driver of a shared printer (print queue) on a Windows Server.<br \/>\nAfter upgrading the server, perform the following steps on the client computers:<br \/>\n<strong>Right-click<\/strong> the shared <strong>printer queue<\/strong> and select <strong>Update Driver<\/strong>.<br \/>\nOtherwise, the first print job may fail because the printer driver on the client computer is not updated immediately.
