{"id":562019,"date":"2022-07-08T11:18:16","date_gmt":"2022-07-08T09:18:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rebo.nl\/support\/non-knowledgebase\/uncategorized\/replacing-the-cutting-plotter-blade\/"},"modified":"2026-06-01T13:36:11","modified_gmt":"2026-06-01T11:36:11","password":"","slug":"replacing-the-cutting-plotter-blade","status":"publish","type":"docs","link":"https:\/\/www.rebo.nl\/en\/support\/sms-r1-en\/maintenance\/replacing-the-cutting-plotter-blade\/","title":{"rendered":"Replacing the (Cutting) Plotter Blade"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In the steps below, we explain how to replace the plotter blade in your SMS-R1.<br \/>\n<strong>Important:<\/strong> Always switch off your printer before performing maintenance.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open the transparent cover at the rear of your printer.<\/li>\n<li>Slide the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">plotter blade holder to the left<\/span> so that you can easily access it.<\/li>\n<li>Turn the plotter blade adapter <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">counterclockwise<\/span> until it comes loose.<\/li>\n<li>Turn the cap of the plotter blade adapter counterclockwise to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">loosen the internal assembly<\/span>.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Carefully<\/span> remove the old blade from the plotter blade adapter and prepare a new one.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Tighten<\/span> the internal assembly of the plotter blade adapter again.<\/li>\n<li>Insert the new blade into the plotter blade adapter by <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">gently tapping the bottom<\/span> of the adapter on a table a few times.<\/li>\n<li>If the blade is still sticking, use the silicone protective cap to gently press it into place.<\/li>\n<li>Turn the cap of the plotter blade adapter until the tip of the plotter blade protrudes <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">approximately 0.5 mm<\/span>.\n<\/li>\n<li>Reinsert the plotter blade adapter <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">into the holder<\/span> and tighten it by turning it clockwise.<\/li>\n<li>You can now <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">switch the printer back on<\/span>, after which the blade holder will automatically move to its home position.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><div class=\"fusion-alert alert custom alert-custom fusion-alert-left awb-alert-native-link-color\" style=\"--awb-background-color:#e3ecf8;--awb-accent-color:#092e6e;--awb-border-size:1px;--awb-border-top-left-radius:0px;--awb-border-top-right-radius:0px;--awb-border-bottom-left-radius:0px;--awb-border-bottom-right-radius:0px;--awb-margin-bottom:20px;\" role=\"alert\"><div class=\"fusion-alert-content-wrapper\"><span class=\"alert-icon\"><i class=\"fa-lightbulb fas\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><\/span><span class=\"fusion-alert-content\"><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"><span style=\"color: #444444;\"><span style=\"color: #092e6e;\"><strong>Plotter Blade:<\/strong><\/span> The metal blade used to cut labels.<br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: #092e6e;\">Plotter Blade Adapter:<\/span><\/strong> The plastic adapter that holds the blade, equipped with a rotating internal assembly that provides access to the blade and allows you to adjust its protrusion.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #092e6e;\"><strong>Plotter Blade Holder:<\/strong><\/span> The holder inside the SMS-R1 into which the plotter blade adapter is secured.<\/span><br \/><\/span><\/div><\/div><\/span><br \/>\n<div class=\"fusion-sep-clear\"><\/div><div class=\"fusion-separator fusion-full-width-sep\" style=\"margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;margin-top:10px;margin-bottom:10px;width:100%;\"><\/div><div class=\"fusion-sep-clear\"><\/div><\/p>\n<h4>Instruction Video<\/h4>\n<p><div class=\"fusion-video fusion-youtube\" style=\"--awb-max-width:600px;--awb-max-height:360px;\"><div class=\"video-shortcode\"><div class=\"fluid-width-video-wrapper\" style=\"padding-top:60%;\" ><iframe title=\"YouTube video player 1\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/QxSDsQd6_8o?wmode=transparent&autoplay=0&amp;rel=0\" width=\"600\" height=\"360\" allowfullscreen allow=\"autoplay;
