In the steps below, we explain how to replace the plotter blade in your SMS-R1.
Important: Always switch off your printer before performing maintenance.
- Open the transparent cover at the rear of your printer.
- Slide the plotter blade holder to the left so that you can easily access it.
- Turn the plotter blade adapter counterclockwise until it comes loose.
- Turn the cap of the plotter blade adapter counterclockwise to loosen the internal assembly.
- Carefully remove the old blade from the plotter blade adapter and prepare a new one.
- Tighten the internal assembly of the plotter blade adapter again.
- Insert the new blade into the plotter blade adapter by gently tapping the bottom of the adapter on a table a few times.
- If the blade is still sticking, use the silicone protective cap to gently press it into place.
- Turn the cap of the plotter blade adapter until the tip of the plotter blade protrudes approximately 0.5 mm.
- Reinsert the plotter blade adapter into the holder and tighten it by turning it clockwise.
- You can now switch the printer back on, after which the blade holder will automatically move to its home position.
